At Rose Bay Medical Clinic we provide the highest quality medical care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.  A trusting, long-term relationship with a GP is the best way to ensure you receive consistent, quality healthcare throughout your life. Our appointment times are longer, so your doctor has the opportunity to be thorough and have proper discussions with you about your care. We are also proud to be an independent, locally owned and operated practice.

Both male and female GPs work at the practice and a number of allied health practitioners. We also have a registered practice nurse on every day during the week as well as on-site DHM Pathology on Wednesday and Friday mornings. We are also open on Saturdays and on Sundays.

Our standard appointment times are 20 min but please feel free to book for longer if you wish.

Our practice is an accredited General Practice.

Your GP wants you to get the most out of your visit to their practice so you leave with all your questions answered. Use the tips below to make your visit a success:

  • Make a list of all the things you want to ask your GP about so you don’t forget anything
  • Be open and honest. Everything you tell your GP is kept confidential
  • Don’t be afraid to ask embarrassing questions, your GP is trained to answer them!
  • If you’ve done some of your own research on the internet before seeing your GP and you’re worried about what it says, print it off and show your GP
  • If you have lots of items you wish to discuss with your GP in one visit, book a longer appointment so neither of you feel rushed
  • If your GP isn’t familiar with your medical history, ensure you let them know about any prior illnesses or family history that may be relevant to your visit.

Fees

In order to run a quality practice that provides the best medical care and gives you more face to face time with your GP, you will be charged a gap fee in addition to the medicare rebate for all patients. Please note that the fee for consultation depends on duration and complexity of issues covered. Should the consultation be prolonged or extra follow up required, an additional fee may be charged at your doctor's discretion.

The gap fee will vary depending on the type of consult you have, but will usually be between $70 and $100. At the end of the consultation you will be asked to pay the gap fee plus the medicare fee and the medicare fee will then be refunded into your bank account on the spot or the refund will take place within 24 hours if your bank account is linked with medicare. For appointment cancellations of 2 business opening hrs or less from the appointment time or "no shows", the patient will be charged a $50 cancellation fee (ie. cancellations via sms after 6pm for appointments before 10am the next day will also be charged a cancellation fee). Appointments missed or cancelled on the weekend will incur a $100 charge. Psychology appointments cancelled within 24 hours will be charged the full consultation fee.

Weekend fees incur a larger gap than weekday fees do.

All fees are to be paid after your appointment. Telephone appointment patients will be sent a HotDoc link  to secure their appointment by entering their credit card details. These details are securely held and payment will be taken after the appointment. At no time do staff have access to credit card details.

Tech Fee

The clinic takes a small percentage of your fee. This percentage is used to cover all the clinic’s expenses eg. staff, supplies etc. In addition to these traditional costs, Payroll tax has been implemented on all General Practitioners fee earnings plus technology driven costs eg. the number and cost of practice/medical software we use and security and backup requirements have increased exponentially to the point that we have instituted an additional $8.80 fee for all appnts to assist with covering these newer costs. By doing so, we are able to keep the price increase to a minimum.

Telephone Appointments

We offer telephone appointments which can be booked through reception or via HotDoc online. After booking a telephone appointment, you will be send an SMS with a link requesting your credit card details to be stored so that payment can be taken after your appointment. This allows for automatic payment processing without staff having to call you. Your credit card details are securely stored through Stripe during this process. These details are secure and confidential.

Results

At Rose Bay Medical Clinic, the doctor's and staff respect patients' confidentiality and know the importance of test results. If your doctor requires tests as part of your treatment, a follow-up appointment with the doctor will be required to discuss the results if there is anything found to be abnormal, outside of the normal range or any other medical reason the doctor deems necessary to communicate your results to you. All follow-up appointments to discuss results will be charged for.  If you do not make a follow-up appointment, please be aware that your doctor will ask one of our staff to contact you via sms requesting you to make an appointment to discuss urgent or non-urgent results if required.

Communication with doctor

Doctors are busy seeing patients during the day and are therefore unable to make or take calls. Often, a staff member will be able to help with your enquiry; otherwise, messages will be relayed to the doctor and either they or a staff member will get back to you with a response later in the day when possible.

Most medical  issues are best discussed in person during an appointment with your doctor, not over the phone or via email.

If the doctor needs to discuss test results, an appointment will need to be made. A staff member will be in contact with you to organise this.

Health privacy information policy

Only medical practitioners are able to access patient medical information collected by the practice. This will not be released to third parties without patient consent. Please refer to our privacy statement for further information.

Complaints process

If you would like to make a complaint, please advise reception and they will provide you with a complaints form to be filled out. This should be returned to reception in a sealed envelope and will then be passed on to the practice manager. The practice manager will respond to your complaint within seven days as long as your name is provided.
